Frequently Asked Questions

When will I find out if my child is offered a spot on the team?
Generally, player decisions are made within a couple of weeks following the last tryout session. We recognize the need for you to know and make a decision. You will be contacted by a club representative to let you know what the decision is either way. If your child is offered a position, we will need a contract signed and returned to us as soon as possible to secure you place on the team.

When are contracts due?
Once your child is offered a spot, a signed contract and deposit will be required to secure his/her place on the team. The team liaison will contact you and let you know what is needed and the deadline to submit all required paperwork. The second and final payment date will be mentioned in the contract.

What is a liaison?
Each team will have at least one liaison. This person is the team manager. They will interface between the team, the coach and the club. They will be your primary point of contact. They will follow-up on forms, passes, schedules, cancellations, tournaments, etc. They are a volunteer and work very hard to make sure the team runs smoothly. They are not a coach, but rather handle the administrative duties for the team.

What does my tuition pay for?
Tuition covers many expenses; primarily coaching fees for training/games, field rental, insurance, apparel, and tournaments.

How many tournaments will the team play?
8v8 teams will play 2 tournaments and the 11v11 teams will play 3 tournaments. If teams choose to participate in additional tournaments there will be an additional $50 fee per player.

How does the selection work?
Players are evaluated at the Summer Select Tryouts and selected by our professional coaching staff based on their abilities with relation to the current members of the existing team. The coaching staff will evaluate the players technical, tactical, and physical abilities as well as their professionalism. If the club has two teams at an age group the players will be evaluated an placed on either the A team or B team. If the club do not have a current team at an age group the coaching staff will select the best players available to form the new team, should there not be enough players to play at a level the coaching staff see as appropriate then a team will not be fielded at that age group.

What age groups do SJEB field teams at?
The club will field Boys and Girls Summer Select teams at the U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, and U14.

Does my child have to play in all the tournaments during the summer?
No, we will carry enough players that we will be able to handle a few absences.

How are the players carded?
Players who make the SJEB Summer Select Teams are carded with US Club Soccer which is a separate entity to US Youth Soccer organization. Any player currently carded to a US Youth Soccer carded team can play for the SJEB Summer Select with out having to get their player pass from their current team. The SJEB summer select teams will process a US Club player pass which will expire on July 31st of 2010. Players will be permitted to return back to their previous club teams.

Does the SJEB Summer Select Program have a “No Poaching” Policy?
