At SJEB we understand that both success on the soccer field and success in the classroom go hand in hand. As a club we want to continue to offer players as many avenues for development as possible and therefore we are offering a new education service aimed at improving players grades and/or SAT scores. As coaches we attempt to emphasize to players and parents the importance of grades (especially when it comes to college recruitment time) and as a club we attempt to utilize all of the resources available to us to provide the most complete soccer and school experience we can. Therefore, the goal of this new program is to provide personal, one-on-one tutoring to players who are struggling with their language arts classes or SAT/HSPA standardized tests. Many of our players take part in personal soccer training sessions and we would like to extend that same service to the classroom.

<span style="font-size: 12px;
The U13 Boys had a terrific start to the fall campaign winning the highly competitive Elite bracket at the Spirit United Kickoff Classic. After squeezing through to the semi finals on Sunday with a dramatic last minute equalizer by Conrad Williams against Harford (MD) the team came up big twice in shootouts against two very highly regarded teams HBC (NYE #4 Ranked) and Hockessin (DE #1 ranked) to claim the title. It was an outstanding team performance with exceptionally strong play in defense led by Ryan McGlynn, Josh Ridenhour, Mitchell Brown, Hunter Swanson and Treven Still. The midfield duo of Tim Cain and Jeff Ackerman were dominant throughout the weekend especially in the semi final and final on Sunday. In the final the penalty kick shootout Mason Bitar calmly stroked home the sudden death winning penalty after Zack Sterr had made an outstanding save on Hockessin’s sixth shooter. The mission of the ASL is to provide non US Soccer Development Academy clubs in the East coast region a high quality boys’ league in a showcase format that has significant games, limits expenses, and provides a platform for collegiate recruiting.

Our Boys U15, U16, U17 & U18 teams will play in events with guaranteed acceptance including the Bethesda Tournament, Triangle Friendlies, SAC Memorial Day Tournament, and an ASL Showcase/Championship. Three games from each event will be counted in league records and awards will be presented at the end of the season. These events will provide our players with events that maximize college exposure and continue development. The ASL aims to have these events be ones that college coaches don’t want to miss. In addition to the college coaches that may be in attendance, players will also be scouted by league representatives during each event for an All ASL event team.

SJ Elite Barons Executive Director, Don D’Ambra is very enthusiastic about the prospect of playing in the ASL "We are excited to have the opportunity to be affiliated with the Atlantic Soccer League. The 16 clubs within the ASL provide quality teams that are serious about development and exposing our players to college coaches. Since there are limited selected US Soccer Developmental Academies throughout the United States, the ASL provides a similar structure which will allow for our U15-U18 boys teams to participate in high level college showcase events in a tournament format which is extremely beneficial for our players. Serving U15, U16, U17 & U18 teams from clubs up and down the East Coast the ASL promises to provide top level competition, facilities and exposure for college bound players from elite level clubs. ’We are very excited about the initial member clubs and the interest from elite clubs that are looking to provide the proper environment for their players and teams.
