Banshees Players Attend US Club Soccer id2 Camp
Three U14 Girls invited

The South Jersey Banshees had three players represent the club a the id2 Regional Training Camp held at the PDA soccer club in Zarepath, NJ.  id2 is US Club Soccer’s player identification and development program.  The camp was an opportunity to bring together the nation’s top youth players in order to identify and develop players for inclusion in US Soccer’s U14 National Team Program.  In both 2004 and 2005, six id2 attendees earned invitations to the U14 National Development Program camp.

Scouts from across the country spent the spring and summer identifying players for inclusion in the camp. Players were scouted in their own natural environment through play with their club teams. Sarah Marakos, Jessica Figueroa, and Mackenzie Pezzi spent 5 days practicing and competing against girls from all over the east coast. All three players are members of the South Jersey Banshees U14 Girls team.

Banshees U14 coach John Thompson is delighted with the identification of these three players, stating:  "The id2 camp is one of the best run identification camps on offer in the United States. From top to bottom the standard of this event is unmatchable. It was an honor for these girls to be selected, and I hope this expereince gives them further drive and determination to advance their development.”

Top club and collegiate coaches conductucted the camp. Training sessions and matches were contested in the mornings and evenings. In the afternoons, players received instruction and engage in Q & A sessions with the id2 coaching staff in a classroom setting.
