Atco, NJ - The South Jersey Barons and Banshees Youth Academy have announced the tryout schedule for the 2008/09 fall and spring season. Open tryouts will be held on May 17/18th for the U8 - U14 Boys and Girls teams at Winslow High/Middle School. Newark, NJ - The South Jersey Barons Under 14 Boys travelled north on Sunday to take on the MLS New York Red Bulls U14’s in their second game of the 2008 SYL Season. Having lost their first SYL game, the team needed to come away with some points from a tough opponent from outside their division.

South Jersey Pro Soccer Hire Director of Coaching in the Community
Leon Brown joins full time staff.
South Jersey Pro Soccer is pleased to announce that we have hired a new Director of Coaching in the Community. Leon Brown will be heading up all community training that South Jersey Pro Soccer provides to clubs in the South Jersey area. Leon is a native of Trinidad and Tobago, he played for Wheeling Jesuit University and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration. Leon was a two time NSCAA All-American at Wheeling Jesuit. He was also a two time Academic All-American.

The South Jersey Barons U15 Boys are spending the Easter break at Bradfield College in the Royal County of Berskhire, England. This is the Barons fifth organized trip to the UK, and the third year at Reading. The Boys are in the capable hands of Barons General Manager Neil Holloway who grew up in Reading, has a full schedule planned to keep the lads busy. The schedule includes an International Soccer match, Premiership games, sight-seeing, games against local Select teams and the Reading Football Club Academy team. Tommy Nowlan, Derek Welsh and Eddie McCartney will be keeping a running diary of the trip for us all to follow.

This weeks player profile is by Chris Ferrari who has been with the club for 4 years and currently plays for our U12 Boys team. Chris also has a sister, Arianna, in the club who plays for the U12 Girls. Chris is known for having the worst hair cut in the club.
Reading FC partners with Barons
EPL side features two U.S. internationals, including Philadelphia native Bobby Convey
In a landmark agreement, the South Jersey Barons organization, fronted by their Premier Development League (PDL) club, the Ocean City Barons, have formed a partnership with Reading Football Club of the English Premier League (EPL). As part of the agreement, which was organized through Reading’s "Football in the Community Trust" program, the "Royals" will send some of their coaches to lend their expertise and help run the Barons’ youth academy camp in August. Also, Reading FC will continue to host the Barons’ youth teams during Easter weekend, as they expose the young players to some of the top facilities at one of the elite youth development clubs in the EPL.

Glenroy Chapman selected though SYL ODP Camps
One South Jersey Barons Youth Academy player has been handed the opportunity of a life time, an opportunity not handed out with out to just anyone, but to players at the top level of youth soccer. Through his play at the Super Y-League ODP camp back in January Glenroy Chapman has earned the opportunity to live and train alongside the Youth Academy players of the famous English Premier Leauge Club West Ham United.
Barons to become Nike club in '08
PDL team to debut new kits on May 11
The South Jersey Barons have entered into an agreement with Nike and Ewing Sports to be the official partner and apparel supplier for the club. Fans will be introduced to the new look this summer when the Ocean City Barons Premier Development League (PDL) team will debut the new kits on May 11 when they host the Newark Ironbound Express at Carey Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
After the PDL team’s season concludes in August, the rest of the Barons organization will be wearing "the swoosh" on their jerseys, bags, and shirts.
Team of the Week
Every Monday the the South Jersey Barons Youth Academy Team of the Week will be announced on the Barons website. The Team of the Week is made up of Youth Academy players who were outstanding in the games during that week. This page will also contain the results of all our teams during the week. First Touch Program Concludes
The South Jersey Pro Soccer First Touch Training has come to its conclusion and after 8 weeks of technical improvement the players are ready to begin their 2008 seasons. Over 140 players registered for the training which took place at the state of the art indoor facility in Egg Harbor City,
Academy Coaches Training Day
The South Jersey Barons Youth Academy has run its first ever coaches training day at the Eurosports Indoor Center in Egg Harbor City. The coaches day was conducted by Technical Director Scott Middlemass.
Three Barons Players Named to '92 Boys SYL National Select Team

COCOA, FLORIDA - The final SYL ODP National camp has conluded with the announcement of the ’92 Boys National Select Team. The camp was a gathering of the top 150 players from around the country representing the top 10% of talent in the Super Y-League. The Barons were represented by Giovanni Tacconelli, McKenzey Scott, and Terrell White, who all play for the Barons U16 Boys team.

Two U15 Banshees Selected to SYL ODP National Select Team

COCOA, FLORIDA - The third week of SYL ODP identification camps has concluded at the Cocoa Expo Center, over 340 players attended representing clubs from all over the United States and Canada. Players were selected to the camp from their performances during the SYL season. The camp was a great success for two South Jersey Banshees U15 players who were selected to the National Select team.
USL Announce '89/'90 Girls SYL ODP National Select Team

COCOA, FLORIDA - The United Soccer Leagues today announced the ’89/’90 Girls Super Y-League ODP National Select Team after four days of player identification. South Jersey Banshees U17 Goalkeeper Alyssa Kelly was named to the team, and becomes the third player from the club to make the SYL National Select Team.

COCOA, FLORIDA – The United Soccer Leagues Super Y League National ODP Camp was a succesful event for Two South Jersey Barons members. Glenroy Chapman and Kevin Davis were selected by the National Coaching Staff onto the 22 member ’91 ODP National Select Team. The camp was held at the Cocoa Expo Center in Florida.
