Coaching Staff
SJBYA is proud to announce that Laura Finley will be our Goalkeeper Trainer and will work with all our Goalkeepers on a regularly scheduled basis throughout the year. Laura is a former keeper with West Virginia University and the South Jersey Banshees W-League. The 2007 SJB Goalkeeper Academy has dates an times set for the 2007 Fall Season. These sessions are open and available to all SJBYA players.
 
Dates and Times
Wednesdays from 5:30pm - 7:30pm
 
SJB Goalkeeper Academy Training Curriculum
Practice sessions will focus on the following GK development activities:
  • Shot stopping: receiving the ball, reaction time, body shape, alignment, hands, recovery
  • Conditioning: footwork, agility, strength, balance, first step quickness
  • Technical: positional play, receiving crossed balls, breakaway saves
  • Tactical: distribution (Kicking & Thowing), near post considerations, communication
  • Psychological: leadership and decision-making considerations, communication
Training Gear
All keepers should wear appropriate Barons training apparel.
Goalkeeping Tips from Tony Caig

A former Team mate of mine Tony Caig who recently won the USL Division 1 Championship with the Vancouver Whitecaps has kindly offered his top 5 tips for goalkeeping success. Tony has accomplished alot in the game and has been a professional play for 14 years. We hope to get Tony over to the East coast to do a Goalkeeper Clinic for the Barons Keepers.
